ABOUT the book
No Matter What is Erin’s inspiring story of overcoming tragedy and choosing resilience. In this memoir, she shares her raw and honest account of time with the love of her life, Sam. The story chronicles the challenges they faced as a young couple, and as a military family persevering through a traumatic brain injury, loss, and her journey to healing.
Through her pain and persistence, Erin shows us what it means to love deeply, lose profoundly, and find hope in the darkest of times. Her story is a reminder that even in the face of unimaginable pain, we are capable of finding strength, resilience, and love.
Sam and Erin were high school sweethearts. When Sam decided to join the Marine Corps in 2003, the trajectory of their lives was sealed. Sam ultimately sustained a severe traumatic brain injury, and the next 13 years centered around his survival.
Despite their tragedy, young Sam and Erin made a promise to each other: to never stop striving to be the best versions of themselves, to live life to the fullest, and to never give up hope. Erin did everything in her power – no matter what – to live up to that promise during Sam's life, which has now become her mantra as she continues on without him.
This is a love story, a testament to the power of positivity, and a lesson in resilience.
